The Underwriting Manager – Group Excess will be responsible for leading the underwriting operations and strategic direction of our group excess liability products delivered through affinity channels such as family offices, membership organizations, and private client networks. This leader will ensure disciplined underwriting practices, support sustainable growth, and serve as a trusted partner to internal and external stakeholders. This position will be hybrid (3-4 days/week) in our New York City office location.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage underwriting for the Group Excess Program, ensuring alignment with company risk appetite, underwriting guidelines, and profitability targets.
- Evaluate and underwrite complex personal excess liability risks associated with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients within group structures.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with affinity partners, private client advisors, program administrators, and brokers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Claims, Legal, Product, Compliance, and Distribution to deliver a seamless and compliant program experience.
- Monitor and analyze program performance metrics, identify trends, and implement appropriate adjustments to ensure long-term success.
- Assist in designing and refining program structures, coverage enhancements, and pricing models tailored for the high net worth market.
- Represent underwriting on business development initiatives related to affinity partnerships and niche group programs.
- Ensure proper documentation, adherence to internal controls, and compliance with regulatory and audit requirements.
Job Requirements include but are not limited to:
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, or a related field (advanced degree or professional designations such as CPCU or ARM preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in personal lines underwriting with a focus on high-net-worth clientele and/or excess liability.
- Minimum of 3 years in an underwriting leadership role, preferably managing affinity or program business.
- Strong understanding of high-net-worth client risk profiles and the nuances of group excess liability exposures.
- Demonstrated experience managing program partnerships or working with affinity/MGA channels.
- Analytical mindset with strong business judgment, underwriting discipline, and an eye for profitable growth.
- Exceptional communication, relationship management, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient with underwriting platforms, data analytics tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
